Lana Bergmame is a doctoral candidate in School / Applied Child Psychology at McGill University. She has completed her clinical training within varied settings, including the McGill Psychoeducational and Counselling Clinic, Summit School, and the Lester B. Pearson School Board. Through this work, Lana has garnered experience in assessment and therapy with children of varying ages (6 – 21 years), abilities, strengths, and challenges. More specifically, she has worked with children experiencing learning challenges, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), socio-emotional and behavioural difficulties (e.g., anxiety, depression, and oppositional behaviour), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and intellectual disabilities. Lana has also received training in various evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy. In addition to these techniques, she often integrates motivational interviewing and mindfulness-based strategies in her work with clients. Lana’s therapeutic approach is flexible and individualized to best serve the unique needs of every client. She also believes that children and youth are best understood within their broader cultural, familial and social contexts; thus, she strives to obtain a holistic view of each client. A primary aim of her work is to support children and families in achieving their goals by equipping them with relevant knowledge and skills needed to build on their strengths and overcome challenges.
